Awards finalists announced

The 115 finalists and two Hall of Fame Inductees have been announced for the 20th Sunshine Coast Business Awards (SCBA). Finalists span 14 award categories and emanate from 35 locations across the region. Each has been selected based on a comprehensive list of entry criteria and their overall commitment to business excellence.

The diverse range of businesses making the cut in 2014 include a kitchen designer, cheerleading studio, I.T company, hairdresser, X-Ray clinic, cheese maker, accountant and a skydiving club.

All finalists will now undergo a rigorous, three-tier judging process over the next three weeks which includes an onsite interview, mystery shop and reference checks.   From there, they will vie for top honours at the SCBA Gala evening to be held at the University of the Sunshine Coast’s Innovation Centre, Sippy Downs on 15 November 2014 from 5.30 pm.

As one of the largest regional business events in the country, the SCBA Gala is recognised as one of the best and biggest business parties in town with over 600 guests expected to enjoy the 20th year celebrations.

SCBA Chair, Ross Hepworth said that the updated SCBA entry process, designed to coincide with the awards’ 20th year anniversary and ensure their continued relevance throughout the next decade, had resulted in an even higher quality of entries.

“The Sunshine Coast is well known as a great holiday destination but it’s also a great place to do business,” Ross said.

“The standard of entries this year has been incredible with a wide range of world class operators right here on our doorstep. Many of our finalists also export products or services across the globe.

“We are committed to continuing to support and acknowledge business excellence based on the vital contribution it makes to our economy and overall quality of life,” Ross said.

Tickets to the Gala will go on sale on 13 October. The $120 ticket includes entry to a pre-award cocktail party, a gourmet feast, beverages, world-class entertainment and the awards ceremony.
