THE Sunshine Coast’s prestigious Sunshine Coast Business Awards welcomed a record number of local business nominations this year, fielding 150% more entries than last year.
The Sunshine Coast Business Awards recognise business leaders throughout our community who excel in their industry.
This year a new judging process was introduced to ensure transparency, involving a wide circle of judges from the business community reviewing entries to choose the top 120 finalists going through to final judging, representing a mix of large to micro businesses.
Businesses throughout the region have entered across 15 industry categories via an online portal for judging by industry leaders and past winners who volunteer their time.
A major award for business of the year and the prestigious Hall of Fame will also be decided.
Chair of the Sunshine Coast Business Awards, Jennifer Swaine, congratulated all businesses who applied and worked on their business throughout the process.
“It’s a challenging but useful process to apply for these awards and every finalist now has a detailed, custom business plan to help grow their business and possibly compete again in future years,” she said.
“Just to be included as a finalist is a significant recognition for the daily effort that businesses of every size and kind make to contribute to our regional economy.”
The next and final stage of judging includes face to face interviews to decide winners and every finalist is invited to a media training masterclass to hone their skills and prepare for publicly sharing their story.
Winners of the 2018 Sunshine Coast Business Awards will be announced on Saturday 17 November at The Awards Gala to be held at Novotel Twin Waters. Tickets will go on sale from 3 October and early bird tickets end on 29 October.
The Sunshine Coast Business Awards have recognised the achievements of the local business community since 1995, making it the longest standing Awards program on the coast.
